What Directors Need to Know...

Two printed scores and/or lead sheets with numbered measures should be presented at the time of performance.

Note: Photocopying of copyright material is illegal. Please do not mimeograph, photograph, photocopy or otherwise copy any part or portion of music or text without authorization from the copyright owner. To do so is a violation of the Canadian Copyright Act. Original scores must be supplied for Evaluators.

Warm-up room will be available 30 minutes prior to performance. Groups are encouraged to listen to each other. Members should be made aware of proper audience manners. Adjudication sheets and tapes must be picked up by the director or representative at the end of their clinic from the festival secretary. Adjudication sheets and/or tapes will not be mailed if left at the festival venue.

Participant Information

Festival Nelson realizes the value of workshops for young musicians and has created a variety of categories to appeal to your students. Please insist on participation in these clinics. The inclusion of high-quality clinics in future festivals will be determined by attendance this year.

The conduct and demeanour of a participating ensemble is the responsibility of the individual director. It is expected that participants will demonstrate respect at all times for the rights of others and conform to the laws and bylaws of the host city. Problems and violations brought to the attention of the festival coordinator will be dealt with appropriately and may result in the revocation of the privilege of further participation for the individual or ensemble concerned and forfeiture of all registration fees.

Several scholarships will be available from Festival Nelson in all areas of instrumental and choral for various Summer Music Programs.

*Please note that all the scholarship recipients will be determined by the adjudicators.
